Swayze Family Mourns Again: Sean Swayze, Patrick’s Younger Brother, Passes Away
The Swayze family faces fresh grief following the death of Patrick Swayze’s younger brother. Sean Swayze, 63, passed away on December 15, 2025. His cousin, Rachel Leon, shared the news and paid tribute with an emotional message highlighting Sean’s vibrant personality.
Cause of Death Revealed
According to his death certificate, Sean died in Los Angeles. Officials listed the cause as an upper gastrointestinal bleed, resulting from severe metabolic acidosis, esophageal varices, and alcoholic liver cirrhosis.
At the time of his death, Sean worked as an entertainment Teamster. He is survived by his two children: daughter Cassie Swayze and son Kyle Swayze.
Family Tribute Highlights Sean’s Life
Rachel Leon shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute. She posted a photo of Sean from a “Dirty Dancing” crawfish-themed event, organized by her daughter to honor Patrick Swayze.
“We sent the T-shirts to Sean, and he wore them proudly. He was always fun and full of life,” Rachel wrote. She also remembered Sean’s plans to visit Texas and spend time with family—a trip she had eagerly awaited.
Rachel added, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his brother Don Swayze and his children. We are praying for the entire family during this difficult time.” She concluded by emphasizing Sean would be dearly missed.
Remembering Patrick Swayze
Sean’s brother, Patrick, rose to fame with films like Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and The Outsiders. He passed away at 57 in 2009 from pancreatic cancer.
Patrick’s publicist confirmed, “Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully with family by his side after facing his illness for 20 months.” Before his death, Patrick starred in A&E Network’s The Beast, performing grueling 12-hour days and his own stunts while battling cancer.
Patrick said in an interview, “If I leave this Earth, I want to leave it knowing I tried to give something back… my work is my legacy.” Sadly, The Beast was canceled in June 2009, and Patrick passed away shortly after, leaving behind his wife, Lisa Niemi Swayze, to whom he was married for over 30 years.
Continuing the Fight and Family Legacy
In 2024, Lisa partnered with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to raise awareness and funding for research. She explained, “Just because he is gone, it doesn’t mean it’s over. I want to keep it going for him,” honoring Patrick’s legacy.
With Sean’s passing, Don Swayze remains the surviving Swayze brother. Don has made his own mark as an actor, appearing in True Blood, Passenger, Drop Zone, and Evasive Action, keeping the family name alive in Hollywood.
